A most successful evening was held on Thursday 16th August at the beautiful Millennium Gallery and our thanks go to Director, Cressida Bishop for allowing us to take over the gallery for the evening. We commenced with a stroll around the newest exhibition which was very impressive. This was followed by a short AGM and presentation of certificates to Gilllian Clover and Carolyn Hope making them Friends of the Club. This is an award which our constitution allows and is designed to be given to members who have have given their time and expertise to the club over a lengthy period - as Gillian and Carolyn have, and who are moving out of the region and are likely to take an interest in the club from afar. This is a worthy acknowledgement and was implemented by the current committee.
Our speaker for the night was Bryce McQuillan from Rotorua and he entertained us well with amazing images of scary insects and many tales of his captures and expertise with macro photography. Thank you to Robyn for organising this visit and entertaining Bryce and his partner for several days.
Supper and wine were served before the raffle was drawn, with many prizes on the table and fairly shared amongst the approximately 35 attendees. We had catered for a larger attendance, however those that did attend appeared to throroughly enjoy the entertaining evening.
The Shot of the Year prints were on display and all digital images shown before the winners were announced. The annual landscape (digital and prints) and Natural History winners were also announced. All awards were then presented, winners have been circulated to each club member.
Our competition secretary will put the images and commentary on the website for Shot of the Year, in due course
Member, Susie Willliams was there with her camera and here are some of the images she has sent through to me.
