Image Medium Title Name Club Composition Communication Creativity Technical TOTAL Comment
Digital Abstract 0191 Grant Douglas Motueka 3 2 3 3 11 A very interesting concept and clever textures.
Digital Daisy Drama Eunice Belk Marlborough 4 4 4 4 16 Vibrant and joyful, this image is bound to make anyone smile.
Digital Deep sea fishing Graeme Skinner Nelson 4 4 5 5 18 A thought provoking image. The lighting and texture evoke a real feeling of  a cold scene. Great composition and has a real avant-garde feel. This image would sell well in a gallery or commercial  setting.
Digital Dreamscape Ross Beech Marlborough 5 3 3 4 15 A stunning image which captures the light on the water beautifully. Pleasing composition.
Digital Entoloma Hochstetteri Helen Rietveld Marlborough 4 3 3 3 13 Wonderful detail in this closeup. The textures are great, and the colours/ lighting very good.
Digital Hikurere Stream Roger Ball Nelson 4 4 3 4 15 The water movement has been captured beautifully in this moody and interesting image.
Digital Hippopotamus Dennis Brown Motueka 4 3 4 3 14 A strikng image. The contrast is very intense, perhaps slightly too much in the backgound for me.
Digital Hypholoma brunneum Heather Knapp Nelson 3 4 4 4 15 This is a wonderful closeup capturing the texture and detail of the water droplets, fungi, and fauna.  Well done.
Digital Inglorious Demise Chris Beech Marlborough 3 4 4 4 15 This is a stunning image! I love the lighting and appreciate the way you've caught the reflection, but my eye is begging for the for the ship to be more vertically centred - perhaps more of the sky in the image?
Digital Morning sweeping John Miles Nelson 4 5 4 4 17 A beautiful image capturing a peaceful scene. Pleasing symmetry and gorgeous lighting.
Digital Our George Dianna Hambleton Nelson 3 4 3 4 14 Our George looks like a real character - you've captured that well, including the sparkle in his eye. Nice lighting, and a considered background.
Digital Seeing Stripes Brigitte Kreigenhofer  Motueka 4 4 4 4 16 This is a striking image. I appreciate the composition and symmetry, including the rear zebra's hidden nose! Zebras sell well commercially and I could see this image selling well in a gallery or commercial environment.
Digital Steps at Sacre Coeur Lindsay Thompson Motueka 3 3 2 2 10 I always love a shot of the Paris skyline! A nice image which will evoke memories for many. It's difficualt to get a shot there without people/tourists in the frame.
Digital Swan plant seed pod Heather Knapp Motueka 3 4 3 4 14 This image captures a moment in nature beautifully. Great closeup detail.
Digital The Alien Dancer Robin Mainprize Marlborough 3 3 3 3 12 Lots of movement and drama!
Digital Two hummingbirds Trish Brown Marlborough 3 4 4 4 15 Wonderful colour and drama. I would've liked more crop on the flower bringing the hummingbirds further into front and centre.
Digital Two spoons Rebecca Bowater Nelson 4 4 4 4 16 This image made me smile, it's as if the bird is peering at it's own reflection. I see this image selling well as a print in a gallery.
Digital World Expo Exhibit Bernard Enoka Motueka 3 3 3 3 12 Striking image, great symmetry and drama.

Australasian Crested

Grebes courting

Caroline Foster Nelson 4 4 4 4 16 This image makes me smile. Lovely colours, shape/symmetry, and light play. It conveys a clever humour.
Print Ballerina Irene Callaghan Nelson 4 4 4 4 16 The matte print makes this image look like a chalk or pastel drawing! Beautiful texture and such a delicate feel. I appreciate the time and care taken in the printing.
Print Cheers Stuart Wilson Marlborough 4 3 3 4 14 Nice close image of what looks to be a real character. It’s a gritty black and white with the feel of a documentary. Great capture of a 'real' moment. Cheers!
Print Down In The Valley Maryjane Hillier Marlborough 4 4 4 5 17 A lovely rolling landscape, beautiful colours, lighting, and lines. The valley and trees provide a lovely curved line which is balanced beautifully by the hill/ mountain in the background making this a very interesting, and pleasing image.
Print Harriet Jon Coe Nelson 3 3 4 2 12 Clever idea and use of texture with the netting. The model looks great, but a little hidden, which may be your point - a  symmertrical beauty hidden by a translucent layer! It would have been nice to have been able to make out the form of the shoulders; the head and netting v shaped scarf appear as floating.
Print Hotel Motueka Carolyn Hope Nelson 5 5 5 4 19 This is a beautiful grungy black and white. It feels like a cross between a fabulous unguarded portrait and a high fashion editorial shoot. The model looks like a real character caught in the moment, and the sheen on the art deco building details in the background gives this image a real feel of gritty glamour! I like the way the words in the sign are cropped - it adds to the entire editorial feel. If you'd been a photographer when I was an agent I would have signed you immediately!
Print Into the Medway  Michelle Brown Marlborough 4 3 4 4 15 Nice image with a moody feel to the sky.

Lewin's & Yellow

Faced Honeyeaters

Gillian Glover Motueka 3 3 3 3 12 Crisp image of these birds. This has a very stylised feel. I'm not a bird expert, but I question the grip of the feet on the foliage. This image would make a great Christmas card - perhaps something the photographer should consider.

Little Blue Penguin

Nesting

Linda Jenkins Motueka 3 4 3 4 14 What a lovely image - great blues in the feathers and a real sense of depth with the dark background and light foreground. It seems as though the penguins are protective in their pose and expression!
Print Lobelia macrodon Don Pittham Nelson 3 3 3 3 12 A very nice close up nature image. There's a good sheen to the leaves and stems and a lovely bright white to the flowers. I can almost feel a cold temperature from the scence in the forest/ garden - it's a 'cool' image to look at.
Print Lycaena salustius Craig Martin Motueka 4 3 3 3 13 Lovely colours and detail.
Print Mia Iain Galloway Marlborough 3 3 3 3 12 Excellent styling and good concept. The light on the model's skin is gorgeous. A moody and dark feel with a considered background. I was unsure if you were presenting a portrait or a editorial image. For portrait, I recommend head & shoulders. Editorial/fashion… knock yourself out, but never just waist up.
Print Moth Flower Lynette Bainbridge Marlborough 3 2 3 3 11 Nice colours in this image, a very abstract feel.
Print Moutukiekie Rocks Nicole Tai Motueka 5 4 5 5 19 Stunning image and a fabulous print! The colours and light are glorious and the composition draws the viewer right through to the distant background. This image is beautiful and would sell well in a gallery, or commercially. The printing is outstanding.
Print Napier Pier Gaile Douglas Motueka 4 4 4 4 16 Subdued and moody. You've resisted the typical images of this landmark which are usually a stark white structure against a bright blue sky and sea, instead creating a moody and muted image. The flying structure looks delicate, almost made of fabric and the sea spray and colour looks like a storm is brewing. The lone vessel, empty shadowed pier, and darkening sky all all add to a real sense of unworldliness.
Print Poppy playing Jane Pordon Nelson 3 4 2 3 12 Poppy's been captured beautifully, she looks so playful! A fun image that makes me smile.
Print Shoveller Duck Sue Henley Marlborough 3 4 4 4 15 Great colours and line, the shapes create a lovely form. The composition made me really think - at first my eye wanted the duck(s) to be higher, but I then realised that the actual duck is well positioned, with the reflection sitting low.
Print The Philosopher Kim Falconer Motueka 4 4 4 4 16 Well staged with thorough stlying & imagery. Great use of thrown lighting creating a real feel of fantasy
