Field trip to Whites Bay – 10 participants and led by Roger Thwaites who gave us a run down on equipment, what to use and how to photograph, then led us up the track to find various species of native orchids. Sadly some were past and some still to flower but we managed to find several species in good condition. Down low was the order of the day and stretched along the track were bodies, and equipment. Luckily a few of the orchids were at waist level which was a bit of relief. All good fun and very satisfying. The Orchids can be found in this area from approximately August to November, different species flowering at different times.
