Trip Report Sunday 30 April 2017

WELD HILL

On Sunday the 30 of April 12 members of the Marlborough Camera Club drove to Weld Hill in the Medway area of the Awatere Valley.  Contrary to the weather report we were blessed with wall to wall sunshine on a lovely calm autumn day.

We had a wealth of subjects to photograph from ancient clay farm buildings and their contents to farm dogs, landscapes, a popular group of four old twisted Bluegums and vineyards. It was a brilliant day for sharing our skills, having fun and making memories.

The 7.8 Kaikoura earthquake of last November badly damaged some of the very old farm buildings.  Nevertheless, whilst having regard for safety, the buildings and their contents made for interesting subject matter.

It was particularly pleasing to have two young lads included in our group.  Logan and Eli were most enthusiastic and showed considerable skill in their composition and choice of subject matter.  Thank you to George Turner for bringing them along.

Thank you to landowner Godfrey Checkley for allowing access to the property and to Camera Club member Joy Brehaut for organising such a memorable field trip.
